For the first time in history the field for the Melbourne Cup has been announced twelve months in advance.
Organisers released the names of the horses exclusively to this publication hoping to harness the excitement and inebriation of race fans celebrating Point of Law’s victory in this year’s race.
“The Melbourne Cup is the single greatest moment in Australia every year,” boasted organisers.
“Australia is united by the race that stops a nation, which is sponsored by a Japanese car company and contains more overseas horses and trainers than homegrown talent. It also generates millions of dollars for Melbourne and for bookies and sports gambling companies.”
Favourites for 2027 include Mutton and her stablemate Dressed as Lamb, as well as training partners Patriot Shames and Foreign Invasion. They will do battle with the following endurance specialists:
