The Sultan of Brunei will become the first person in history to stone himself to death after committing a crime which attracts the death penalty in his nation.
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah committed the crime of adultery, which, along with homosexuality, is punishable by death under Sharia law, which the Sultan himself imposed on the country.
The strict Islamic law was imposed on the tiny, oil-rich nation in 2014, and various laws were intended to be phased in gradually. The law to punish adulterers and homosexuals to death by stoning will now be enforced according to a recent decree by the Sultan.
The leader of the South-East Asian nation is famous for cheating on his multiple wives and even had his promiscuity revealed in a book called Some Girls: My Life in a Harem by Jillian Lauren, an American woman who was a guest of the Sultan and his famously sex-addicted brother Prince Jefri.
Prince Jefri is such a playboy that he will also make history. The prince will be stoned to death by his brother, before the Sultan inflicts the punishment on himself. It is also widely suspected that the Sultan will execute one of his own sons, because it is widely suspected that one of his sons is gay.
It is not yet clear how the Sultan will carry out the self-execution, but sources close to the royal family revealed that special gold-plated stones have been made for the occasion, and that they carry sufficient weight to inflict fatal injuries on the Sultan.
Despite the existence of martial law in Brunei, which severely limits large public gatherings, many of the Sultan’s loyal subjects are expected to gather to watch the Sultan stone himself to death.
