Wild hair and dynamic hit-ups have earned Kevin Proctor many fans throughout his career, now his alleged consumption of an illegal substance has earned him a nomination for The Frownlow Medal.

Proctor is accused of consuming an illegal substance while consoling himself following the Kiwis’ shocking loss to Australia in the ANZAC Test in Canberra.

The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians. It covers Australia’s four major football codes; the National Rugby League (NRL), Australian Football League (AFL), the A-League (Football) and Rugby Union’s Super Rugby competition. Kiwi international and Sydney Roosters player Shaun Kenny-Dowall won the inaugural medal in 2015, while Corey Norman from the Parramatta Eels won in 2016.

The Gold Coast Titans player has also been axed from the Kiwis side for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, while the Titans are also expected to punish him – maybe with a haircut.

The winner of The Frownlow Medal will be announced later in the year.
