Australian cat owners can now lavish even more love on their feline friends with the release of Nativus Deluxe.
Nativus Deluxe is the first pet food created especially for Australian cats and contains the meat of every native Australian animal that has been made extinct or placed on the endangered list since the arrival of cats Down Under in 1788.
“Nativus Deluxe is a revolution in cat food,” stated a spokesperson for the company.
“Owners can choose from an extensive list of dishes created in consultation with leading food scientists who have recreated the flavours and nutritional elements of animals such as the lesser bilby, desert bandicoot and broad-faced potaroo.
They have been able to clone endangered animals such as numbats and quolls and introduce the meat in perfectly-balanced portions to create dishes to die for.”
Nativus is extremely confident of its product and claims that no cat will be able to resist the food.
“Science proves this. Cats find animals such as the pig-footed bandicoot completely irresistible.”
Studies support the company’s claims. Cats are the single most destructive introduced species in Australia, which has the highest rate of native mammal extinction in the world.
Cats are estimated to kill about 1.5 billion native animals per annum in Australia. This destruction is the work of domestic cats, stray cats and feral cats. All of these cats are derived from pet cats, as feline species have never been native to Australia.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 1994 only 26% of domestic cats were confined both during the day and night. This means 74% of cats were roaming happily, hunting and destroying native wildlife. In the same year, 42,126 cats were dumped on the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Only 3% of the cats were reclaimed and 74% were put down.
Feral cats threaten at least 124 Australian species which are in danger of extinction.
Drawing on these statistics, the company also boasted of other unique aspects of its product.
“Nativus has partnered with organisations such as the Cat Protection Society, shelters and organisations which keep pets alive, in order to make our product available to stray cats, street cats and feral cats, because every cat deserves easy access to Aussie wildlife.”
“Furthermore, owners who love to pamper their cats just that little bit more can feed them Nativus Deluxe Premiere, which contains live native animals for fussy cats who love to play with and kill wildlife, even if they don’t eat it.”
Nativus is available in pet stores, major supermarkets and online, and cat lovers are encouraged to get it while stocks (of Aussie wildlife) last.
